Scarr Insurance University
Scarr Insurance University – Leading with Education
Scarr Insurance Group is dedicated to the education of its customers, partners, and community. That’s why we’ve launched Scarr Insurance University (“SIU”), a series of classes to help homeowners, property managers, realtors, and community associations stay informed about their insurance needs. SIU classes are designed to keep attendees up to date on constant industry changes, so attendees can make better decisions about their and their clients’ coverages.
These classes are designed and guided by our founder, Barry Scarr, CIRMS, along with a few key employees with backgrounds in education and hospitality. Barry has been in the Association Insurance world for over three decades, after spending a decade as a Certified Property Manager. Barry’s experience, education, and hospitality training ensure that SIU students have an amazing experience.
In addition to providing invaluable insight into the insurance world, some classes at Scarr Insurance University are approved by the state and CAI to fulfill Continuing Education requirements.
Scarr Insurance University’s courses for Property Managers help managers ensure their Associations have the coverages they need. Our courses are state-approved to fulfill continuing education requirements.
Association Insurance Update (1 CE Credit): This compact course is for experienced Property Managers who need an update on changes in insurance regulation and markets.
Understanding Community Association Insurance (2 CE Credits): This more in-depth course will provide both experienced and newer Property Managers with a comprehensive overview of insurance as it relates to Associations.
Barry Scarr’s decades of experience in Community Association Insurance means that these courses can be tailored to solve specific problems or address particular concerns. Whether a Community Association Manager works with HOAs, Condos, Co-Ops, Mobile Home Parks, or Resident-Owned Communities, he or she must understand the Master Policies that cover the developments they manage. Inadequate coverage can lead to uncovered liability and serious consequences for Associations, owners, and managers themselves. These courses are designed to help Community Association Managers assess their risk and find coverage levels appropriate for their clients.
Our “Insurance 101” class for Homeowners and Homeowners Associations provides important information on getting the best value and coverage from individual homeowner policies (HO-3), Flood, Wind, Umbrella, Boat, and Auto policies. We will also cover Life Insurance and income protection strategies.

This class is presented in an informal “Lunch and Learn” format, and can be tailored to the needs of your group. Whether in the morning, afternoon, or evening, SIU will bring food and education to you!
